Children's
Religious
Education
Welcome to the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Pottstown Religious Education Program. We are looking forward to a year of fun and excitement as we begin our school year in September.
This year we have three classes: The Nursery is available for the toddlers and pre-k age children, the Elementary Class is for children in kindergarten through grade six, and the Teen Class is for our Jr. and Sr. high school students. Please join us on our journey this year where children explore, learn and enjoy the friendships they build throughout the years at UUFP in the RE Sunday school program!

Chalice Lighting
Family Chalice Lighting:

Together we light this family flame to remind us:
To show our love for each other every day,
To live with gratitude in our hearts,
and thanks on our tongues,
and to take care of each other, as families should.
We light this family flame to remind us of our love.

Religious education classes for teens and children are held every second Sunday of the month at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Pottstown from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

February's meeting will be on the 5th, the first Sunday.

RE
Curricula
The Elementary group will be coordinated by Linda Pallay with many UUFP volunteers offering their gifts and talents throughout the year.

February 5: Lisa Jokiel will lead the Elementary class adding her musical talents to the lesson ―In Harmony‖. The lesson explores the sixth UU principle: …‖The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all.‖ This UU principle when translated for children: ―We believe in working for a peaceful, fair and free world‖, helps them to understand how to play, work and sing together, each one adding a different part and each one adding to the whole.

Youth Group – Second Sunday (note: Feb. meeting will be on the 5th)
The design of the teen class will be a small group ministry where ideas of religion, spirituality, ethics and social justice are explored and discussed. The discussions will help our teens sort through many ideas and ideologies so they can discover their place in our world. The group will be engaged in thoughtful discussion centering around the questions in the UU World magazine. UUFP volunteers will also offer their talents and join in the discussions throughout the school year.

January 8, February 5 and March 11: CJ Rhoads will lead the teen class for Pacem In Vita: Making a Better Future. CJ describes Pacem In Vita (known as Making a Better Future program) as a leadership and conflict resolution curriculum for high school students. They learn better ways of dealing with conflict as well as how to plan for their future along with Taijiquan and Qigong moves.

Please Note
There is a new sign-in and sign-out procedure this year. Please be sure to do both when your child attends!

Nursery Care Provider
Max Devlin, our Nursery care worker, is in the Nursery every Sunday throughout the year from 9:30 to 11:30 am. All young children are welcome.

Principles of Unitarian Universalism

WE Believe...
  • that each and every person is important.
  • that all people should be treated fairly.
  • that our churches are places where all people are accepted and where we keep on learning together.
  • that each person must be free to search for what is true and right in life.
  • that everyone should vote about the things that concern them.
  • in working for a peaceful, fair and free world.
  • in caring for our planet earth.
