Board of Directors

UUFP Board Covenant
Adopted October 2001

We the members of the UUFP Board of Directors covenant with each other to do the following in our roles as board members.

1. We will presume good faith.
2. We will treat each other with respect.
3. We will be sensitive to each other's points of view, and not allow differing opinions to become disruptive to the meeting.
4. We will be honest and direct with each other
   1. I will speak out when something is of serious concern
   2. When I have a suspicion, concern or question, rather than make attributions, I will ask questions.
   3. I will work on an issue directly with the person(s) with whom I have it and I will support and encourage others to do the same.
   4. I will actively listen to and respect the speaker who has the floor.
5. We will report news or findings in a professional, non-biased manner to prevent escalation or manipulation of findings.
6. We will start our meetings on time.
7. I will self-monitor to stay on track and not use time inefficiently.
8. We will notify the President in advance if we are unable to attend a board meeting, and will provide if appropriate, information and opinions for use at the meeting for which we are responsible.
9. We will answer phone calls and emails within a reasonable time frame.
10. We will not second-guess the work of the working groups, task forces and committees, and we will support that work.
11. We will record our policy decisions in an accessible way, so we can retain our decisions and actions in the future, and so that they are available to all.
